Korea Breast Cancer Foundation Signs MOU with Yongsan Park Planning Group

On March 26, the Korea Breast Cancer Foundation signed an MOU to implement a private-public collaborating public campaign using the land of Yongsan Park, Seoul, with the Yongsan Park Planning Group under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. By taking the agreement as opportunity, the two organizations agreed to actively seek ways to enhance the public’s participation in the construction of Yongsan Park as well as to further develop women’s health improvement projects.

As part of such effort, the Korea Breast Cancer Foundation plans to host its running festival ‘Pink Run’ at a partially opened site of Yongsan Park this coming October. The military base where the Yongsan Park, the number one national park, is planned to be built is an area that was closed to the public for more than a century. The foundation aims to raise awareness and interest in the project by hosting an event that engages the public at a historic site of a new park being built right at the center of Seoul.

Pink Run is one of Pink Ribbon campaign activities held since 2000 by the Korea Breast Cancer Foundation to raise awareness around breast health. The entire participation proceeds are used to support the surgeries and treatments of breast cancer patients of low-income families. Pink Run will be held in June and October this year. The Pink Run event in October, which celebrates the Breast Cancer Prevention Month, will be held as an offline event. Following COVID-19, Pink Run was held in an ‘untact’ form last year, and this year’s offline event may also be flexible to change.
