Amorepacific signed a ‘renewable energy supply business agreement for carbon neutrality’ with SK E&S on December 7 at Amorepacific’s head office.
SK E&S is a global eco-friendly energy company that has built a green portfolio based on four core businesses: hydrogen, renewable energy, energy solutions, and eco-friendly LNG. The company is currently developing and running a renewable energy project with a capacity of 3 GW (gigawatt) in South Korea.
With the signing of the agreement, Amorepacific has secured a stable supply of renewable energy from SK E&S, thereby laying the foundation for accelerating the fulfillment of its promises for sustainability management and the achievement of RE100.
Amorepacific and SK E&S have also agreed to come up with a joint investment plan to revitalize the renewable energy market and to join forces to propose ways to improve systems and policies that can lead more companies to use renewable energy.
In June 2021, Amorepacific unveiled its five promises for the achievement of sustainable management and declared that its global production sites would become carbon neutral by 2030 as a promise to coexist with nature. In addition, the company also plans to increase its use of renewable energy at its headquarters, R&D center, and directly managed stores to 100%.
Amorepacific president Ahn Se-hong said, “Through this business agreement with SK E&S, we will be able to minimize the impact of greenhouse gas on the climate by reducing greenhouse gas emissions generated from our production facilities. Additionally, we will also responsibly reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated from all stages of consumer use of Amorepacific products and services.”
SK E&S CEO Choo Hyung-wook said, “SK E&S expects both companies to establish ourselves as companies that lead the way towards carbon neutrality in South Korea through active cooperation. We will provide practical solutions to companies who want to take part in RE100 based on our company's eco-friendly energy portfolio.”
