In 1984, AMORE 1st Street, located in Myeong-dong, Seoul, offered skincare and makeup services where individual customers were able to learn better about their skin using scientific beauty devices and tools. AMORE 1st Street also provided a high-end massage and makeup service free of cost, which was normally provided by beauty salons at a high cost, and two-hour one-on-one consultations for 10 customers per day. Brides-to-be were scrambling to make a reservation and as the battle heated up, many went back home empty-handed. Pacific Corporation (prior to Amorepacific) thought about how to serve more customers and it decided to develop a computer system that would be capable of presenting a personalized makeup routine.
A massive amount of data was required on the face and skin of Korean women to develop the system, but Pacific Corporation was ready for that. It had collected customer’s data through surveys for over 20 years and together with the experience of its beauty professionals, turned this all into scientific data.

In 2021, 30 years later, Amorepacific presented its innovative customized beauty technology at CES 2021, the world's largest consumer electronics and technology show. Lip Factory by Color Tailor Smart Factory System, CES 2021 Innovation Award Honoree in the Health & Wellness category, is an integrated online-offline lip makeup manufacturing system that uses AI to recommend the best lip color for each individual’s skin tone and create a lip color right there in-store. The Lip Factory by Color Tailor System can produce over 2,000 shades of colors using advanced technology to precisely mix and manage the various pigments to produce the exact color of choice, quickly and simply with easy operation.
